Recent Trends in Kitchen Storage

For most families, a kitchen isn’t just a kitchen- it’s also a dining room, a mudroom, a home office, and more. With all the activity surrounding a kitchen, it’s easy for the clutter to pile up. Luckily, we’ve been seeing recent kitchen design trends that specifically address a kitchen’s tendency to become a little disorganized by providing customized, creative, and beautiful solutions. Butler pantries, customized kitchen storage, and sprucing up your kitchen with your own personal tastes are all ways to combine functional storage with an attractive design.

Butler Pantries
If you’re like us and you love entertaining, a butler pantry will make your hostessing duties much easier. A butler pantry can be incorporated into a dining room, hallway, alcove- even the space under your staircase! Originally used for easy access to stemware or silver reserved for special occasions and guests, butler pantries today are used for much more practical reasons. The extra storage and countertop space is ideal if you need more room to prepare food and drink (especially if you add in an extra sink), or it can be a great way to display a beautiful collection.

Custom Kitchen Storage

Your family’s home isn’t one size fits all- why should your kitchen storage be? With custom kitchen storage, you have the luxury of having all of your important appliances (blenders, juicers, grills, and more) at your fingertips- without sacrificing your precious countertop space to store them. Among our favorite custom kitchen storage ideas are pull-out trays, custom shelving, pull-down appliance garages, and mirrored panel doors. With custom kitchen storage, there’s no need to sacrifice function for design!

Mix and Match Your Kitchen Space

A little of this, a little of that- our favorite kitchen designs are the ones that aren’t afraid to play with materials and color. Maybe you want to accent your island by punching up the cabinet color or giving it a different glaze. Or, draw attention to a cabinet door by using textured glass. Mosaic tiles add a unique, exotic touch to the wall, or use the wall as a place to showcase your favorite color. Unusual light fixtures are also an easy way to add intrigue to any space. By making these decisions based on what you’re drawn to, your personality will shine through any space.

AT KSI, our design philosophy follows a five-step process that we call “Bringing Design Home.”

Using this as a backbone of our design process, we can better understand your needs and wants to make creative suggestions and help you choose the perfect products, colors, materials, and more for your space.

People spend more time in the kitchen than in any other room in the home. By “Bringing Design Home,” we can create a functional, beautiful space that your family will love and want to spend time in. That’s our signature touch on each design.
